Prague - the Golden City

Prague is centrally located in the western Czech Republic on the Vltava River, about 40 kilometers from the mouth into the Elbe. The distance to the outermost boundary points is about 110 kilometers to the north, west and south, each about 170, about 320 east (to the old eastern Bohemia about 170; each distance).

Much of the city lies in a wide valley of the Vltava River, which flows through the urban area to 30 km in length and in the northern part forms a large loop. At the southern arc of this loop is the historic city center, dominated by the two mountains in the North castle (Hradcany Opyš respectively) and south (Vysehrad). The rest is distributed over more of the valley surrounding hills: Letna, Vítkov, Větrov, Skalka, Emauzy, Karlov and the highest of them, the Petrin. By incorporations primarily in the 20th Century, the city now extends far to the Prague plateau (Pražská plošina) from inside.
The
Moldova occurs in the south at an altitude of about 190 meters into the city and leave it to the north at around 176 meters. It has shown an average depth of 2.75 meters at a maximum depth of 10.5 meters. It flows around several islands, including the south of the Charles Bridge, located Slovanský ostrov, Dětský ostrov and Střelecký (the latter from it clearly visible) and the western part of the Charles Bridge carrying Kampa, and receives many rivers, north of which the largest the Berounka of Zbraslav from the west, the Botič between New Town and Vysehrad from the east and the Port of Rokytka Libeň are also from the east.

most famous Prague Castle with St. Vitus Cathedral, Charles Bridge and Old Town Square with Tyn Church, Ungelt, Town Hall and Astronomical Clock (Astronomical Clock) are. The second medieval castle, Vysehrad with St. Peter and Paul Church is one of the better-known buildings. The Old Town is particularly influenced by their old houses that date back many times to the Romanesque and Gothic architecture, its many churches and romantic alleyways. On the Lesser Town and Prague Castle in the city, however dominate Palais Renaissance and Baroque periods, including the Palais Lobkowicz with the German Embassy in Prague, who wrote in 1989 as a haven for refugees from the East all-German history. Not far from the two districts is the Strahov Monastery.

In the mid-14th Century New Town, founded the New Town Hall located at Karlsplatz, many Gothic and Baroque churches and monasteries, as well as the busiest place in Prague, Wenceslas Square, the fashionable shopping areas of a lined boulevard barely remembers to its medieval origins. Only the Church of St. Mary Snow is still a testimony to its great importance in earlier times. Prague is also famous for its numerous Art Nouveau buildings. In Prague, was able to develop cubism in architecture. Cubism contributed towards a significant contribution to cultural identity in the Czech Republic, and perimeter Austria and Germany. A familiar example is the house of the Black Madonna of the architect Josef Gočár.

The modern architecture is represented with some exceptional buildings such as the Villa Müller by Adolf Loos, Frank Gehry's Fred and Ginger, or the Prague TV tower. Another notable sight-and the transmission tower is modeled on the Eiffel Tower Petrinska rozhledna. The 60 meter high tower was built 1891st The city is particularly characterized by the Vltava River, Prague from 13 major bridges from different periods is covered.

On 09/19/2009 I sat with my travel companions from Heidelberg and Lothar Nazar from Lviv, who accompanied us to Odessa, on the night train trip to Odessa to Simferopol in the Crimea continued. This journey, which began in the evening against 19 Odessa main train station and clock in the morning so ended around 08:30, was extremely demanding. We did not get a place in the first or second grade and had to make do with third grade. That is 50 people in a wagon, a bed somewhere, people at different locations one got out and, fish and food vendors on the platforms, which loudly offering their goods, Ukrainian families who shared a chat the barren Zugbänke their own food and vodka and unpacked it all to the sample they offered for sale, to be penned up, etc. Nice simple man but a little exhausting over 12 hours in a stuffy train compartments. From 22:00 at least the lights went out and turned in by and by peace, which was constantly interrupted by the snoring of dear contemporaries. An experience in itself. But so that people are saving their hotel room, so the trains in Ukraine at night constantly packed with sleeping people go in all directions. Of course, there are linen dining car, but it can buy from the uniformed Schaffer inner tea, coffee or beer for little money.

So I was glad when we are good the next morning arrived in Simferopol. Alex, an intelligent, open-minded and very nice young man picked us up around 24 with a lovely friend on the train and greeted us warmly. He had traveled by night train from Kiev 16 hours, to show us the Crimea. A great boy! Alex speaks excellent English and studied and is generally quite active. His highly interesting blog should http://astron-photo.blogspot.com/ ye see!! should continue

But then the same as the bus to Sebastopol, I had a strike and I took a room in one of the best hotels for a day, I showered thoroughly, fresh and then I looked at the city. The others took the bus to Sebastopol, which is located on the Black Sea, further. So I enjoyed without accompaniment, the capital of Crimea. It was just popular festival with fireworks in the evening and there was a lot of new impressions.

Simferopol:

Simferopol (Ukrainian Сімферополь; Симферополь Russian, Crimean Tatars Aqmescit.) is the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukraine. The city has 344 000 inhabitants.
Stadtgliederung
The city is divided into 3 Stadtrajone Rajon Salisnyzja, Rajon Kiev and Rajon Central, the 4 SsT Ahrarne / Аграрне, Aeroflotskyj / Аерофлотський, Hressiwskyj / Гресівський and Komsomolsk / Комсомольське and the settlement Bitumne / Бітумне

Interesting to Simferopol, the capital of Crimea, the so-called Heidelberg house that serves as a cultural center. In addition, you must visit the pedestrian zone in which the hand is all going on at night, with its restaurants, bars and cafes. Furthermore, the stalls of animals are very interesting. There, the Simferopol Hryvnia some money by selling their pet talent. Some of the little creatures are considered quite cute.

For me, the starting point for excursions Simferopol in the Crimea. It is a capital city, but breathes the atmosphere of a small town on every corner. It is not easy to find your way around. Even at the 4 star hotel "Simferopol" could me no reasonable information to give the reception in no de usual languages (English, German, French, English, Italian, Czech), where lies the railway station / bus station. Only when I asked them to write in Cyrillic, the word "station" and the name of the 2 or 3 roads that lead there also, so I was able to show the note passers, I managed to find the station. Not an easy thing if you have no Ukrainian or Russian, and even better Cyrillic can. Then help even the best map, of course, everything only in Cyrillic, not one more.

very handsome young enough to run around in the city. Only here the same as for the actually very little trouble locating the station: the language barrier is not in itself without professional help, almost insurmountable. (If you spent a tour guide, then please contact me if interested - I can only recommend and are investing money). should

On
09/16/2009 it with that night train on to Lviv Odessa: August 1991 (from Soviet Union) calling code. A Ukrainian specialty seems to be that night trains. They go from all parts of the country all night in all directions. There are 3 categories, but which of the facilities all the same. The first class is composed of 2 persons, 2nd Class 4 and 3 in Class 50 people. All classes seem to be the same feature: hard bench with a meager circulation. This gives it a mat lying more pleasurable, a sheet on the mat, a sheet to cover it. In a Rauhaardecke and a reference for something like a pillow. This is not for everyone and the trains rattle quite beautiful, are not as quiet as it is lived with us. At all stations the trains stop and people get on and to. Man sleeps on his clothes. That is, under the berth (actually fit) is a box where you can keep things safe from thieves during his sleep. The first and second class have to complete a door to the corridor, the 3 class, however, is open and it shares the facility with 50 sleeping little man, woman and child. This is certainly not for everyone. By 22 clock and the light goes out in the morning you go in the rule at its destination. Only from Sebastopol to Kiev takes 16 hours to travel on the train. The plane of Simferopol is faster and costs about 30 € with the www.wizzair.com. So if the addition of expensive not love, which can easily then to Kiev from the Crimea fly.

The train with the night trains are very cheap and cost so between 10 and 20 euros depending on the class. In any case, they are a very special experience

to Odessa, which has, in fact its own airport, it is convenient to change trains in Riga / Latvia with the www.airbaltic.com

And another important piece of information : it's worth it in Ukraine own mobile number for 3-5 € to buy with credit balances. These numbers are available almost anywhere and can be recharged. Therefore you have not even identify as in the Czech Republic, in contrast to Slovakia. So a good thing.

But notice: need to call in his country to enter the 815 first, followed by the country code (49 for Germany, etc.). SMS goes directly without entering another number but not 00 but only enter +. Otherwise it will not work either. And enter for calls within Ukraine and +. If you know this, then the connection works without problems.

So we are left at 9.16 to 19 clock of Lviv and around 9:00 clock in the morning in Odessa arrived safely in the 2 Class, since we were 2 adults and 2 adult Ukrainian boy.

Odessa:

Odessa (Ukrainian Одеса; Одесса Russian) is a town in Ukraine. It has approximately one million inhabitants the most important port city on the Black Sea.
zip codes: 65000-65480
code: +380 48
Website: http://www.odessa.ua

Odessa may also be referred to as the pearl of the Black Sea. The city is beautiful, especially the renovated old town with its attractive parks, its cafes and restaurants, pubs, the renovated houses, its promenade, the opera, its market, where you can buy almost anything and his Restored and renovated hotels, such as the Mozart Hotel opposite the Opera. The port is an attraction and the festively lit streets at night.

A visit to the Opera worthwhile in all cases. We have 2 times the opera. The admission prices are very moderate and so you can spend a lavish evening of opera for under 10 € in the best seats. We saw the following operas:
16:09 19:00 M. Arcas "KATERYNE"
17:09 19:00 G. Donizetti's "Lucia de LAMMERMUR"

More information about the Odessa Opera under:
www.opera-ballet.tm.odessa.ua/english / repertoiren_now.html

There are also lots of beautiful boys. Only with the contact it is difficult when one controls and no any Russian Cyrillic. Moreover, the people on the basis of the Orthodox Church towards homosexuality negatively set, and the boys are afraid to publicly display their lusts, to say, "you must have it no one can see anything or get even a suspicion".

It is also worth a cable car to drive to the beach, which is located in the city, but small and not so clean. There is also a nudist beach just outside, but there I was not even due to lack of time.

For me, the most interesting city of Odessa in Ukraine and I will certainly go back there as soon as it is warmer spring and so .. My friend Dimitri will tell my friends like their city or Michal (see photo) that you know her from the villa, is ready with friends of the Villa to tour his country as a tour guide so to speak (please contact directly if interested in me).
